Hallyu stars Kim Hyun-joong and Super Junior grabbed several prizes at this year's Yahoo! Buzz Awards held over the weekend.
At the ceremony for the Yahoo! Buzz Awards 2011 held in Hong Kong on December 20, Kim received a total of four awards including the prize for Asia Top Searched Star, Male Buzz Star and Hong Kong and Taiwan's Best Star.
"I thank all my fans who have supported me while I promoted my album and I will repay you for it next year with better activities," Kim said in his acceptance speech.
Super Junior took four awards as well including the recognition for Asia Top Searched Group Artist and Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong's Top Searched Group Artist.
Upon receiving their trophies, members Siwon and Donghae who were present at the awards ceremony said, "We're so happy to receive such an honorable award and we thank our fans for making our brief visit to Hong Kong a memorable one."
The Yahoo! Buzz Awards is an Internet-based popularity poll, run jointly by Yahoo! South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, which counts the numbers of 'buzz,' or the number of searches that a star receives on Yahoo!.
Kim made his debut as the leader of the popular boy band SS501 in 2005. He expanded his career into acting with a role in KBS' smash hit series "Boys Over Flowers" in 2009, which made him a household name in Korea and Asia.
He started on his solo singing career with his first mini-album "Break Down" this year and followed it up with "Lucky" in October. He recently released his digital single "Marry Me" to express his gratitude to his fans.
Super Junior has been one of the most popular K-pop bands in the world since their debut in 2005, having released a number of hit songs such as "Don't Don," "Sorry Sorry" and "BONAMANA" which have topped a number of music charts in Korea and in the Asia region.
They kicked off their world tour in late November and will head to cities such as Beijing, Singapore, Los Angeles, Paris and New York.
